Nepal Integrated Rural Development Project

• Farmers can produce and use liquid manure, organic pesticides, organic manure, compost manure, vermicompost, and other organic fertilizers in their fields, allowing them to maximize production while avoiding the negative effects of chemical fertilizer use on the soil and humans.
• Every year, farmers establish home nurseries for production of different types of nutritious fodder grasses around and cultivating them in their fields to provide nutritious grasses for their livestock in order to improve income, nutrition and productivity.
• Saving and credit programs help local communities, particularly women, in order to carry out small but important activities such as enrollment of children in school, health care, economic growth, etc. As a result, women are given priority at home and in the community, and they are able to boost their self-esteem.
• Women members of the groups are able to establish mutual proximity in the community and improve food security through cultivating various value added fruits and vegetables, herbs, and generating income through livestock husbandry (Goats), stall improvement program with the financial, technical and educational support and guidance, and also participating in various educational tours to improve livestock management.
